The Craft
The Pandé have worked iron on this island for a thousand years.
In old Bali, «Pandé» named a caste — those trusted with fire and iron. The tools in the rice field, the hinges on the temple gate, the blade on the priest's altar — all came from their hearths.
Today the fire is a welding rig and the pieces are for villas and surf houses — fences, gates, canopies, BBQs, racks for boards. But the principle is the same. One workshop, one master, measured and welded piece by piece.
